There's been a massive upset in the 135th Kentucky Derby with a 50-1 longshot gelding from New Mexico easily beating the cream of American racing.

Mine That Bird exploded down the final straight to win by nearly seven lengths at Churchill Downs in Lousiville.

Pioneer of the Nile finished second and Musket Man third in the first race of the Triple Crown.

The series continues with the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore on May 16 and the Belmont Stakes in New York on June 6.

Friesan Fire, who took over as favorite when I Want Revenge was scratched, finished a distant 18th in the 19-horse field.
