The Springbok full-back Conrad Jantjes will miss the upcoming three-Test rugby series against the British & Irish Lions after breaking his leg.
The Stormers back collided with Waikato's Liam Messam in the opening minutes of yesterday's Super 14 match.
The 29-year-old Jantjes, capped 24 times, was in the Springboks line-up for their victories over Wales, Scotland and England last autumn.
The Boks are already without Bath's injured fly-half Butch James.
There was more concern for Springboks coach Peter de Villiers from the Stormers' 28-14 defeat when Jantjes' provincial team-mate Schalk Burger, a key part of his back row, limped off.
The flanker will have a scan today to assess the extent of a calf injury.
Centre Jean de Villiers is already an injury doubt ahead of the Lions series with a groin injury, meaning he is unlikely to play any rugby before the first Test in Durban on June 20th.
