Gerrard ruled out of Brumbies side for clash with Blues

The ACT Brumbies fullback Mark Gerrard will miss Saturday's Super 14 rugby match against the Blues in Canberra after aggravating a hamstring injury.

Gerrard will have a scan today and it's thought he'll be out of action for at least five weeks.

The Brumbies coach Andy Friend says it's highly unlikely Gerrard will return to the side regardless of whether or not they make the Super 14 finals.

The former Wallabies fullback has signed with a Japanese second division club.

He's played 23 tests and 80 matches for the Brumbies where he's third on their list of all-time point scorers with 306 behind Stirling Mortlock's 982 and Joe Roff's 590.

Coming off a 52-13 win over the Reds last weekend, the Brumbies can move into the top four with a win over the Blues, but only if other results go their way.
