The Springbok coach Peter de Villiers says a spate of injuries to leading players won't derail preparations for the series against the British and Irish Lions.

Forwards Schalk Burger and Andries Bekker and backs Frans Steyn, Adrian Jacobs, Fourie du Preez,, Conrad Jantjes and Jean de Villiers have all been injured as the Super 14 draws towards the end.

De Villiers says he doesn't want to draw any conclusions until he has full understanding of the extent of each injury and the recovery prognosis.

Jantjes, South Africa's first-choice fullback , broke his leg in the Stormers' match against the Waikato Chiefs on Sunday.

But Jacobs is back in training with the Sharks after tearing muscles in his shoulder and De Villiers may return for the Stormers' final Super 14 match on May 16,

And Burger, Bekker andDu Preez are all expected to be fit in time for the first test in Durban on June 20.

Steyn's knee injury that could keep him out of action for eight weeks though.
