The New Zealand Olympic Shot Put champion Valerie Vili is dismissing a report she may compete for another country at the 2012 London Olympics.

The British magazine Inside The Games has reported Vili may compete for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics because of funding issues for New Zealand athletes.

Family heritage means Vili is eligible to compete for Britain or France but she says her comments were taken out of context.

She admits while she was critical of the level of funding top New Zealand athletes get compared to other countries and indicated she was eligible to compete for Britain, as her father was born in England, she doesn't have any intention of switching allegiances.
