Matthew Johns responds to sex allegation

Former National Rugby League star and television personality Matthew Johns has been forced to respond to an allegation of sexual misconduct while he was a player with Cronulla seven years ago.

Several Sharks players were investigated for sexual assault and cleared by police during a trip to New Zealand.

A woman has spoken to the ABC's Four Corners with the programme to be aired in Australia on Monday.

The woman says she had group sex with several players at a Christchurch hotel and it damaged her psychologically.

She says she can definitely remember only one and it was Johns, who has admitted he was involved but says it was consensual.

The woman first made the allegation in February 2002 when she was a staff member at the team's hotel and had been socialising with players before a warm-up match against the Warriors.
