The Manu Samoa rugby captain George Stowers has signed for London Irish on a two-year contract.

The 30-year-old back rower made his international debut in 2001 against Ireland and joins Irish from the Kobe club in Japan.

Exiles head coach Toby Booth said he'd signed Stwoers to boost his back row resources after having gone through most of this season with just four senior players.

Stowers, who is a powerful tackler with good distribution skills, last played in England for the Pacific Islands at Twickenham in the first of the 2008 autumn international fixtures.
