New Zealand looks to three teams in Super 14 semis

7:32 am on 11 May 2009

Three New Zealand teams can make the semi finals of the Super 14 rugby competition if they win their games this weekend.

Wins for the Chiefs and Hurricanes will ensure both sides of semi final places, while the Crusaders may need to a bonus point win over the Blues to be certain of their place.

The Crusaders will only need to worry about a bonus point if the ACT Brumbies beat the Chiefs on Friday night with a bonus point.

The battle for home semi-finals is also tight.

The Bulls need to win against the Sharks in Durban to guarantee themselves a home semi-final but need a bonus point to be certain of being top qualifier.

The Chiefs, who have a better points differential, can grab the top spot again if they score a bonus point win over the Brumbies and if the Bulls win over the Sharks but fail to get the four try bonus point.

The competition is so tight the three New Zealand teams can all miss out on semi final places if they lose this weekend and the three teams behind them all win.

The New South Wales Waratahs, Sharks and Brumbies would then join the Bulls.
