Sweden's Henrik Stenson kept his cool in 32 degree heat to win golf's unofficial fifth major, the Players Championship in Florida, as a frustrated Tiger Woods crashed out of contention.

Stenson headed into the final round five strokes behind the leader Alex Cejka of Germany, before carding a bogey-free six-under-par 66 on the demanding Sawgrass TPC course.

He recorded six birdies in the final 12 holes to match the biggest comeback in tournament history, finishing at 12-under for the tournament with England's Ian Poulter finishing second at eight under par.

Stenson who's ranked ninth in the world, collects almost three million dollar for his seventh professional career win.

Cejka, whose five-shot third round lead was the largest in tournament history, slumped to ninth finishing at four under par, scoring a seven over par final round of 79.

World number one Tiger Woods struggled to a over par 73 to finish eighth.
