Hamilton can look forward to Monaco, say McLaren

McLaren's boss Martin Whitmarsh says Lewis Hamilton can look forward to next week's Monaco Grand Prix, despite his car's lack of pace in Spain .

The Formula One world champion was lapped at Barcelona and finished ninth in a race dominated by compatriot Jenson Button and his Brawn GP team.

Hamilton won in Monaco last year on his way to becoming Formula One's youngest champion but an uncompetitive car has left the 24-year-old Briton with just nine points from the first five races.

Whitmarsh had warned before the race that it promised to be McLaren's worst showing of the season and he stuck to that afterwards.

But he says Monaco's street circuit suits McLaren and they will be strong there.
