Harper has Twenty20 vision to protect umpires

Increasingly ferocious hits in the fast-paced Twenty20 game are forcing cricket umpires to consider using baseball helmets for protection.

The Australian umpire Daryl Harper says it's getting really dangerous as bats get heavier and the ball is hit harder.

Harper says itt's only a matter of time before umpires seek protection and a baseball helmet with a full face cover would be good.

He's officiating in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 competition in South Africa and in one game he says a Sanath's Jayasuriya shot hit him so hard he was breathless for a while.
