Collins withdrawal signals likely end

The veteran Blues flanker Justin Collins has played what will probably be his last Super Rugby match, after being ruled out of Saturday's final round robin match against the Crusaders because of post-concussion headaches.

The 35-year-old indicated in pre-season that 2009 would be his last in a Blues jersey, although he has changed his mind before about retiring from professional rugby.

In 2004 he underwent surgery for a heart condition- the same as that which has affected Olympic rowing champion Rob Waddell.

Collins is one of just ten New Zealanders to play 100 Super Rugby matches, and has played 103 in total for the Blues and the Chiefs since his debut against the Crusaders in 1998.

He says he still intends to turn out for Northland in this years national provincial competition.
