No pressure on London 2012 to reschedule athletics

Television rights holders will allow London 2012 Olympics organisers to set whatever athletics schedule they wish.

Olympic organising committee chairman Sebastian Coe says there has been no pressure from US rights holder NBC to schedule events to suit primetime American audiences.

Coe says NBC sports head Dick Ebersol had made it clear he was entirely happy to follow whatever scheduling London organisers thought was appropriate.

Gymnastics and swimming finals were staged in the morning at last year's Beijing Olympics to accommodate American audiences.

Coe says no decisions had yet been made about a route or a time for the men's and women's marathons.
