Former All Black captain Tana Umaga is looking to play another season.

Umaga, who turns 36 next week, says he is looking forward to remaining in the playing ranks with Toulon, the club he coached this year.

The head coaching role at Toulon will be taken over next season by Phillipe Saint Andre, the former French international, with Umaga to look after the backs.

Umaga celebrated Toulon's last game of the season with a try in his team's 23-3 over Montpellier. The wins lifted Toulon to ninth in the 14 team competition. Earlier in the season they were facing relegation as one of the bottom two sides in the competition.

It was Umaga's first try since coming out of retirement mid season.
