Wilkinson lined up for two-year Toulon deal

England's rugby World Cup hero Jonny Wilkinson has been tipped to sign a two-year deal with the big-spending French side Toulon.

Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal is a long time admirer of the injury-plagued first-five and a Frech radio station says he is due to hold a news conference tonight.

Wilkinson, who will be 30 in a week, has 70 test caps and 1032 Test points.

Toulon finished in ninth in the French Top 14 this season after staving off relegation and having to call coach Tana Umaga out of retirment.

The ex-French international Philippe Saint-Andre will be sporting director next season.

Toulon were expected to sign Leinster's Argentine first-five Felipe Contempomi, but he's out for six months after suffering a serious knee injury in the European Cup semi-finals.
