The Ireland flanker Alan Quinlan lodged an appeal on Monday against a 12-week suspension which has ruled him out of the British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa.

The Munster blindside was found guilty of making contact with the eye of Leinster lock Leo Cullen in Munster's 25-6 Heineken Cup semi-final defeat on May 2.

The appeal will be heard in Glasgow on May 20.

Head coach Ian McGeechan has not named a replacement for Quinlan.
