There's been a blow for the New Zealand PGA championship with the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation deciding not to renew its contract as the title sponsor after three years.
Bob Tuohy of tournament promoters Tuohy Associates says although HSBC got unprecedented, exposure, the Christchurch tournament no long fits their "revised marketing strategies" and sponsorship programme.
Tuohy says his company will continue to work with the New Zealand and Australian PGAs and the Clearwater Club to ensure the Championship is scheduled in some form on next year's golfing
calendar.
