Jonny Wilkinson says he feels as fit as a 20-year-old and has pledged to be back at his best when he resumes playing with the French rugby club Toulon next season.

The England first-five will join Toulon on a two-year-deal after undergoing detailed medical checks to prove his fitness.

Wilkinson has suffered a succession of injuries since drop kicking the winning goal for England against Australia in the 2003 World Cup final.

He has been sidelined for six months after dislocating his left kneecap during a club match with the Newcastle Falcons.

He celebrated his 30th birthday two days ago but says he feels like he's 20 and hasn't given up playing for England again.
