The New Zealand driver Scott Dixon is back on top of the IndyCar standings after winning The Milwaukee Mile.

It was the defending champion's first victory at the event, Dixon winning after starting in fourth place on the grid.

Averaging 223 kilometres per hour, Dixon passed the Australian Ryan Briscoe, who began from pole position, with 24 laps to go to win by just over two seconds.

It's Dixon's second victory of the season and the 18th of his career, and he now leads the championship by four points over Briscoe and Britain's Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti.
