Mystics beat Tactix - just

11:27 am on 2 June 2009

The Northern Mystics have scored a last minute 47-46 victory over the Canterbury Tactix in their trans-Tasman netball clash in Auckland.

It wasn't until that final minute of the game that the Mystics grabbed the lead and is just their third win of the season.

The Tactix led throughout the match and went into the final quarter with a five-goal lead but former international Vilimaina Davu showed some of her old form to defend strongly for the home side as they clawed their way back.

There was no lack of rivalry in the midcourt either between two of New Zealand's most experienced netballers, Temepara George and Julie Seymour, who as captains of their respective sides were both leading by example.

The Mystics are now sixth on the table and the Tactix ninth.

Also on Monday night the Adelaide Thunderbirds moved up to third with a 61-41 win over the West Coast Fever.
