The New Zealand cricketers say they're happy to be dark horses for the Twenty20 World Cup, which begins this weekend in England.

They completed their preparations on Wednesday with a seven-wicket loss to Australia at the Oval in London.

The Black Caps managed just 147 with Peter McGlashan top scoring with 49 but the Australians were always in control as they reached their target with four balls to spare.

Batsmen Ross Taylor will be one of the key players for New Zealand in the tournament having come off a reasonably success Indian Premier League.

Taylor says they're not bothered at being written off as title contenders, he says going into the event as underdogs is just the way they like it.

New Zealand's first match is against Scotland on Saturday night.
