The American golfer Phil Mickelson will play in the US Open later this month despite his wife's battle with cancer.
Mickelson, announced last month that he was taking a break from golf to support his wife Amy.
But the world number two will compete at Bethpage in New York as he seeks a fourth major victory.
The timing of the tournament is understood to fit in with the treatment his 37-year-old wife is undergoing for breast cancer.
The Mickelsons married in 1996 and have three children.
Mickelson has twice won the US Masters and also has a USPGA title to his credit. The left hander, who has missed the last two tour events, finished tied fourth in this year's Masters.
