French want to change style

9:02 am on 6 June 2009

The French rugby team want to use the Tests against New Zealand to change their style of play.

The French don't have a great record here, having won only three of their 21 matches in New Zealand, although of course they have managed to beat New Zealand twice at World Cups.

Manager Jo Maso says he and his coaches want to move away from the controlled style of play introduced by Guy Laporte and go back to a traditional French game.

The French play two Tests against the All Blacks starting in Dunedin next weekend followed by Wellington.
