Richard Kahui resigned to six-month break

The All Black centre Richard Kahui says the shoulder injury he aggravated in the Super 14 final is too painful to try rehabilitation treatment in an effort to keep playing international rugby this season.

A scan on Thursday confirmed a labal tear - the same injury Kahui's already had repaired in his right shoulder.

He's resigned to surgery next week and being out for six months.

Kahui says that's usually the going rate for a shoulder injury and if it's anything less it'll be a bonus but he's not holding his breath.

He says one comfort though is that his right shoulder's as good as new and he should be able to start next season with confidence.
