The Northern Mystics have been well beaten at the start of in round 10 of netball's trans-Tasman championship, going down by 24 goals to the Thunderbirds in Adelaide.
The Mystics trailed by eight at half-time and their captain Temepara George says they didn't start well enough to have any chance of becoming the first New Zealand side to win in Australia since the ANZ championship started last year.
The Thunderbirds' 58-34 win is their seventh in nine games and leaves them third on 14 points, level with the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.
The Magic have a game in hand though and host the Melbourne Vixens in a top of the table clash in Tauranga on Monday night.
Earlier the Canterbury Tactix ended a run of three narrow losses with a 59-45 win over the winless Central Pulse at Porirua to move from second to last to sixth in the 10 team competition.
