Hannant has swine flu

Queensland's State of Origin forward Ben Hannant has contracted swine flu and has been quarantined from the rest of his National Rugby League team-mates for two days.

The Bulldogs prop first started showing symptoms after performing strongly for the Maroons in their 28-18 win in the opening Origin game in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Victoria has 874 of the 1,039 cases of swine flu reported by Sunday night.

Hannant's illness isn't likely to be a problem for his Bulldogs teammates as he flew to the Gold Coast following the Origin match at Etihad Stadium to be with family and friends during the club's bye week.

The Sydney side tackle Brisbane on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium with the Maroons side for game two of the Origin series in Sydney on June 24 expected to be named on Monday week.
