The Brisbane Broncos have handed down the biggest fine in the club's history with prop Joel Clinton reprimanded for bringing a woman back to his hotel room the night before a National Rugby League match.

Brisbane officials met Clinton on Tuesday and slapped the star forward with a whopping $64,000 fine for a breach of the club's code of conduct.

Clinton, reportedly on an annual salary in excess of $320,000, invited a female friend back to his room before Brisbane's round 11 clash with Wests Tigers.

He was stood down for last week's 48-4 loss to the Storm and has been internally suspended for Friday night's game against the Bulldogs.
