New Zealand Cricket has confirmed that Aaron Redmond will replace Jesse Ryder in the Blackcaps squad for the remainder of the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in England.

New Zealand team manager Dave Currie says Ryder remains in hospital with an abdominal problem but is progressing well, and is likely to be released within the next 24 hours. He is expected to return to New Zealand after further recuperation.

Currie says unfortunately medical advice is that it'll be very difficult for Ryder to regain full fitness in time for the remainder of the tournament.

Redmond played in New Zealand's 83 run victory over Ireland, scoring 63 from 30 deliveries at the top of the order.
