Highlanders prop on the move

6:09 am on 4 July 2013

After seven years with the Highlanders, one-test All Blacks prop Jamie Mackintosh has signed with the Chiefs for next year's Super Rugby competition.

Mackintosh, who's 28, has had limited game time this year, appearing in only five matches, after the arrival at the Highlanders at the start of the year of the longest-serving All Blacks prop Tony Woodcock.

Mackintosh has played 67 games for the Highlanders and says loyalty is one of his strongest values, so it was a tough decision to leave a franchise that he's always called home.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says Mackintosh is an experienced player and a strong leader, having captained the Highlanders in 2011.
