The New Zealand batsman Aaron Redmond says the wet England summer probably helped prepare him for his debut in the Twenty20 World Cup.

Yesterday Redmond replaced the injured Jessie Ryder in the squad and today hit a match winning 63 off 30 balls as the Black Caps beat Ireland by 83 runs in their opening Super 8 match.

Redmond has been playing League cricket in England and he says they've only managed 30 overs in recent matches because of the weather and that probably helped him today.

He's played 7 tests for New Zealand and says the transition to the shorter version of the game hasn't been too difficult....

Redmond says he is available for the lucrative Indian Premier League if any teams are interested.
