Lions captain says handling of Horwill foul play charge will have meant red faces

The New British and Irish Lions rugby captain Alun Wyn Jones says there may be a few red faces somewhere over the handling of a foul play charge against Wallaby captain James Horwill.

Horwill was charged with stamping on Jones head in the Lions first test win in Brisbane but an IRB judicial hearing found it to have been accidental contact and he was cleared.

However the IRB appealed the decision and Horwill was subsequently cleared again.

Jones says the issue became a sideshow and the decision to appeal the original decision only for it to be uphead has no doubt meant a few red faces among IRB officials.

Jones says despite needing three stitches he isn't holding a grudge going into Saturday night's series decider and will be happy to shake Horwill's hand after the game.
