Vettori decides not to take up a contract with NZ Cricket

New Zealand's second most succesful test bowler Daniel Vettori has decided not to take up a contract with New Zealand Cricket or Northern Districts for next season.

The 34-year-old recently had surgery on his Achilles and requires up to six months rehabilitation before he knows if he'll be in a position to return to full fitness.

Vettori says at that stage he'll make a decision on his playing future.

The former Black Caps captain says he's fully focused on his recovery, however at present he feels it would be wrong to take a retainer contract.
