The New Zealand men's hockey team have qualified for the 2014 Hockey World Cup thanks to England defeating Korea 2-1 in the bronze medal match at the World League Round Three tournament in Malaysia.

Despite a fourth place finish at the recent World League Round three event in Rotterdam, the Black Sticks were the highest ranked of the two fourth place finishers across both World League Round Three tournaments, giving them a spot in the World Cup.

The win for the Black Sticks, who are ranked sixth in the world, also means they qualify for the men's World League Final in India in January.
