The Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder is making no promises on returning All Blacks captain Richie McCaw, about an automatic return to the side come the Super Rugby playoffs.
McCaw will play his first match since December when he turns out for his Christchurch club this weekend, having had a sabbatical for the past seven months.
But one club match may not be enough for him to return to the Crusaders for the playoffs with Blackadder conscious of the efforts of the players who've got them this far.
He says McCaw may need another club game before being considered and he's confident McCaw will also know whether or not he's up to Super Rugby standard.
The Crusaders play the Hurricanes in Christchurch on Friday night.
