The Australian batsman David Warner has been cut from the Ashes squad and banished to southern Africa to get some match practice with the Australian A side.

Warner has just completed a suspension for punching the England batsman Joe Root in a bar in Birmingham early last month, and he'll join the Australian A squad for a tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Selector John Inverarity says Warner remains part of the Ashes squad and he'll rejoin the team in England at an appropriate time.
