Lions get heroes welcome home

6:33 am on 11 July 2013

The British and Irish Lions rugby captain Sam Warburton admits he is just beginning to appreciate the scale of his team's achievements after they returned home to a heroes' welcome following their triumphant tour of Australia.

Warburton's side sealed an unforgettable series victory last Saturday with a 41-16 rout of the Wallabies in Sydney, and they were given a rowdy reception when they arrived at Heathrow Airport.

Warburton, who missed the series decider with a torn hamstring, says it could take a few months or even years to appreciate what his team achieved in Australia, and he says they've got nothing to do for four weeks now but to watch the Ashes cricket series.
