6:23 am on 15 June 2009

New Zealand's drawn 3-all with South Korea in their opening second round match at the Junior Men's Hockey World Cup in Singapore.

The Black Sticks dominated the first half with goals to Simon Child and Stephen Jenness but the Koreans woke up to win a string of penalty corners before the break, one of which yielded their first goal.

With fifteen minutes to go, Korea manage to sneak in the equalizer, and New Zealand were hit again a minute later when captain and star player Simon Child was yellow-carded.

Korea scored again from a penalty stroke when one of their players on a solo counter-attack was felled in the circle.

But the return of Child saw the Black Sticks win a penalty corner that Joseph Bartholomew flicked high for the equalizer.
