Early scare for Brazil in South Africa

8:02 am on 17 June 2009

The African football champions Egypt almost pulled off a monumental upset against mighty Brazil on the second day of the Confederations Cup tournament in South Africa.

Trailing 1-3 at the break, Egypt fought back with two goals within a minute early in the second half, and had the five times world champions on the back foot as they pressed forward in search of a winner.

In the end it was only a stoppage time penalty by Kaka which saw Brazil through 4-3.
