The All Black first-five Dan Carter has re-signed with the the Canterbury Rugby Union until the end of 2011 despite a reported offer of up to $400,000 from Auckland.

Although Carter has a home in Auckland he says Christchurch has always been home and he's looking forward to playing in a red and black jersey again and being part of the province that has given his rugby so much.

Canterbury's chief executive Hamish Riach says they're absolutely delighted to be able to re-sign Carter until after the World Cup.

Riach says it's tremendously good news for all who care about Canterbury and Crusaders rugby .

He says while there has been intense media speculation about Carter's future discussions have been positive and constructive throughout.
