The New Zealand men's hockey team have climbed to its highest place on the sport's international rankings to currently sit fifth.

Results at the recent World League round three tournaments in Rotterdam and Malaysia have meant the Black Sticks move up one place ahead of Korea, Spain and Pakistan.

Germany sit at number one followed by Australia, the Netherlands and England.

Fifth is the highest position the Black Sticks men have been on the ladder since the world rankings system came into effect during the 1990s.

The national women's side have retained their world ranking of three, behind the Netherlands and Argentina.
