Openside flanker Heinrich Brussow will make his first start for South Africa in the first rugby Test against the British and Irish Lions in Durban early Sunday.
The 22-year-old joined the squad in place of Schalk Burger, who has failed to recover from a calf injury. Brussow won his first cap off the bench against England at Twickenham last year.
There were no major surprises in the South Africa team with first five eighth and fullback being the only contentious positions.
Ruan Pienaar holds onto the No.10 jersey despite missing a large part of the Super 14 season with injury while utility back Frans Steyn was named at fullback.
There is only one uncapped player in the South Africa 22 with Bulls No.10 Morne Steyn included on the bench.
