Black Caps miss out on semi-finals

The New Zealand cricketers have been well beaten by Sri Lanka in their final second round match at the Twenty20 World Cup though the Black Caps had laid the foundation for a place in the semi-finals.

The Black Caps bowlers did well enough to restrict Sri Lanka to 158 for five, and the run chase was going well at 64 for two with Martin Guptil and Ross Taylor together.

But the introduction of the mystery off spinner Ajantha Mendis changed the course of the match as he took three wickets for 9 from three overs and New Zealand collapsed to be all out for 110.

Sri Lanka have joined South Africa, Pakistan and the West Indies in the semi-finals.
