Football's world governing FIFA is to discuss the future of the vuvuzela, the noisy plastic trumpet blown at the Confederations Cup after complaints from European television stations.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter says he's aware of complaints the din is drowning out the commentary and broadcasters want it banned at this tournament and next year's World Cup in South Africa.

But Blatter says he doesn't know how it's possible to stop it as the tournaments are in Africa where it's noisy with energy, rhythm, music, dance and drums and Europeans have to adapt a little.

Vuvuzelas, which have been given away free and Spain's midfielder Xabi Alonso says they should be banned because they make it very hard for players to communicate and concentrate.s
