Black Sticks women win in Nelson and take series win

The Black Sticks women have taken a 2-0 lead in their three-Test hockey series against India with a confident 5-2 win in Nelson.

There were seven new caps in the New Zealand team which scored their first goal after only three minutes of play, and were 3-0 up before the visitors managed to find the net.

The Black Sticks led 4-1 at half-time in an an open, flowing game in front of about two thousand spectators.

Anita Punt scored two goals, while Katie Glynn, Gemma Flynn and Stacey Michelsen got one apiece.

The Black Sticks won the first Test 3-2 in Christchurch and will be looking for a clean sweep of the series in the third Test this afternoon in Nelson.
