New Zealand has finished fourth at the junior men's hockey world championship in Singapore after Australia won the bronze medal match 4-1.

Australia led 3-0 at half-time and despite playing a significant part of the second half one man they never looked like surrendering their lead.

The Junior Blacksticks picked up their game after the break and Joseph Bartholomew got them on the scoreboard with a penalty corner conversion, but they looked too tired to really break through.

Germany beat the Netherlands 3-1 in the final.
