New Zealand's Indycar champion Scott Dixon has slipped to third after finishing fifth in the Iowa Corn Indy 250.

Dixon started from third on the grid but his chances of winning went when his car clipped Helio Castroneves' early in the race .

He says the biggest problem though was getting back in the pack then passing other cars once he got there.

Dixon says he's not sure what happened while Castroneves says he thought Dixon went a little low but the contact wasn't intentional on his part or Dixon's.

Dario Franchitti won from the Australian Ryan Briscoe, who now leads by three points.

Franchitti is second, 15 points clear of his team-mate Dixon with Castroneves fourth.
