Southern Steel still hopeful

6:43 pm on 23 June 2009

The Southern Steel netball coach Robin Broughton remains confident they can make the ANZ championship playoffs despite their narrow 50-52 loss to the Queensland Firebirds in Brisbane last night.

The win puts the Firebirds in fourth place ahead of the Steel, but only on percentage.

The good news for the Steel is their home court advantage for two crucial matches coming up.

The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic remain co-leaders with the Melbourne Vixens after a hard fought 50-46 win over the Canterbury Tactix last night in Rotorua.
