Owen to leave Newcastle, eyes Premier League

The former European Footballer of the Year Michael Owen says he'll leave relegated Newcastle United within weeks.

Owen played for Liverpool and Real Madrid and the striker says there are plenty of Premier League clubs he'd be interested in.

He shot to fame with Liverpool and England as a striker with lightning pace and a lethal finish, before joining Real Madrid in 2004.

Owen had a single, frustrating season at the Bernabeu, where he played well but never quite managed to cement a first team place,.

Since he moved to Newcastle in 2005 he's struggled for form and fitness and has been consistently overlooked by England's current manager Fabio Capello.
