Commonwealth Games champion banned for missing drug tests

Australia's reigning Commonwealth Games javelin champion Jarrod Bannister has been banned from competition for 20 months for missing three doping tests.

The ban will last until February 18, 2015, after which time the 28-year-old Bannister plans to return to competition.

Bannister has revealed on his Facebook page that he was suspended after a Court of Arbitration for Sport hearing last month found him guilty of a breach of the athlete whereabouts policy.

The athlete has called on Athletics Australia, the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority and the World Anti-Doping Agency to review their operations as he claims there are deficiencies in the way those organisations go about their business.
