Junior Tall Blacks beat Egypt again

6:52 am on 26 June 2009

The New Zealand Junior Tall Blacks were challenged but still managed a second win over Egypt in Porirua last night in their build-up to next week's FIBA U19 World Basketball Championship in Auckland.

Forward Richie Edwards led the Juniors with 18 points as New Zealand picked up their second win in as many nights of the African champions at Te Rauparaha Arena.

The Kiwis did not have it all their own way, forced into 18 turnovers and shooting low percentages by a more aggressive Egyptian team, who improved from another day in the country.

The Junior Tall Blacks next play Lithuania, who arrive in New Zealand today, in Porirua tomorrow night, before three closed-session games against Lithuania, Puerto Rico and Syria on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
